It's seeding time 🌱🌱 So excited to be using a new soil blocking system from @johnnys_seeds and reducing our plastic use this season. I will still need the trays to keep the water contained, and will be using a capillary mat system to water from below, but plan on using them for as long as I can. Finally got around to stratifying some of my native perennial seeds I collected from my road last fall. They're getting mixed with a small amount of damp sand and then put in the freezer for a few months before I start to feelings them. This year I'm starting with three- #cheloneglabra #eupatoriummaculatum and the beautiful #gentianaandrewsii Hopefully this will be the beginning of my propagation efforts, and can start offering these hyperlocal plants to my clients by the end of the year. #nativeplants #seeds #seedsaving #stratified #local #perennials #vermont #apisgardencoach #gardens #propagation

House plant cleaning day- many of these poor babies needed some drastic cut back and a reminder if the toll a wood stove can take. (And much more fun than sitting in the office all day!) Despite the dry foliage, I'm pretty sure they will all make it. Most house plant posts only show the most glamorous and newly purchased plants that look perfect, but I think most northern house plants more resemble this rag tag crew. Come spring and summer they will all fill out and enjoy the outdoors.
